Our theme for September is “FAIRY TALES” and the entries for this week’s design challenge were inspired by the theme of “BEAUTY AND THE BEAST”.
Tammy Adams of Paisley Lizard
For the story of Beauty and the Beast: a necklace with seven roses, a ring, and a tear drop. Coordinating earrings with filigree hearts dangling from acrylic rose beads.
Sherri Jones of SenoJ Designs
Beauty which is crystal clear. The Beast has a dark side. But you can't help who you fall in Love with. Together they compliment each other. The vial which holds a magical love potion, will be sealed for life. Tale as old as time, Song as old rhyme. "Beauty and the Beast"
Laura Bracken of Bracken Designs Studio Art Jewelry
For my interpretation of Beauty and the Beast, I fabricated a shining, highly polished bronze circle to represent Beauty held by a coarse, dark piece of suede to represent The Beast.

Our theme for September is “FAIRY TALES” and the entries for this week’s design challenge were inspired by the theme of “RUMPELSTILTSKIN”.
Dani Meyers from Of Two Minds Designs
I based this ring on the version of Rumpelstiltskin that is in the show Once Upon a Time. In this version Rumple's father sent him to live with the women who taught him to spin straw so that he could gamble, drink, etc. with no bothers. When Rumple becomes a father he is known as the town coward and has a chance to become "The Dark One" which he chooses over his son. The gold wire represents the only good thing to come from his father's betrayal, the two hearts represent Rumple and his son separated by the promises of fortune by obtaining the evil of "The Dark One" (a darkened gold bead.
Scotti Cohn of Jewelry by Scotti
The story of Rumpelstiltskin is about spinning straw into gold, so I decided to spin a little straw of my own into a sparkly gold coil bracelet using golden beige glass pearls in three styles, 6mm Preciosa white pearl beads, gold crystal spacer beads, and Miyuki pearl white #11 seed beads.
Vonna Maslanka of Just Vonna
I had just glanced at the inspiration pictures while scrolling through the SRAJD Facebook group the other day; when it hit me! I have a design on my table that just might work. Lots of mixed materials, metal, semi-precious gemstones, beads, pearls and findings - hand knotted with waxed linen and finished off with copper chain! Browns and a splash of green, very organic just like the forest where rumple lives!! :)
Jo Pound of Jewelry by Jolane
I made a bead embroidery necklace using the traditional spinning wheel with all the gold strands and also added Rumpelstiltskin's dagger from the TV show "Once Upon a Time". Thought I would just combine them.
Tammy Adams of Paisley Lizard
Golden wire spiral earrings made with gold artistic wire and Czech glass gold beads. For Rumpelstiltskin spinning straw into gold.
Carole Grant of CG Studio Jewelry
I envision Rumpelstiltskin weaving and weaving his gold into long pieces of gold thread. This cuff was created with a simple wire wrap technique.
Sherri Jones of SenoJ Designs
This one was a real challenge for me. It forced me to step outside my comfort zone. I decided to go for the Gold in this challenge. My interpretation of the straw that was turned into Gold by the little man that appears at night. Hope you enjoy this choker necklace set in Gold and White.
Laura Bracken of Bracken Designs Studio Art Jewelry
I used a combination of rose gold colored wire along with traditional yellow gold colored wire in this abstract woven piece. The three circles represent the three nights of spinning straw into gold.

Our theme for September is “FAIRY TALES” and the entries for this week’s design challenge were inspired by the theme of “LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD”.
Jo Pound of Jewelry by Jolane
I made a bead embroidery bracelet with the center representing Little Red Riding Hood, the brown represents the wolf and basket, and the grey is the winding path through the forest.
Sherri Jones of SenoJ Designs
As a child I loved the classic tale of Little Red Riding Hood. This piece of Abalone Shell is designed with an overlay of Antique Gold, featuring L.R.R.H. and the infamous Wolf.
Tammy Adams of Paisley Lizard
I opted to tell the story from the wolf's perspective, using an etched pewter wolf face pendant on a strand of green aventurine heishe with brecciated jasper accents.
Laura Bracken of Bracken Designs Studio Art Jewelry
Woods and forests intrigue me so I’m telling the story as Little Red Riding Hood is in the forest, which I’m depicting as menacing because that’s where she first meets the big bad wolf. Red is a small bit of colored resin surrounded by the steel trees of the forest in this slightly over the top necklace.
Kelly Hosford Patterson of Pyxee Styx
Jewelry artist is just one of my many hats. I'm really a mixed media artist, and textiles is my other love. "Little Red Riding Hood" nuno felted bejeweled woodland opera cloak. A one-of-kind-hand made textile. A blend of hand dyed silk, Merino wool, Cotswold locks, Alpaca, Yak down, hand spun yarn, Angelina fiber, silk flowers, sequins, berries, and probably a few other things I forgot. The woods woven right into the cloak. Embellished with little bits of glitz and glam, and tied with antique beaded bronze tassels. I could only submit one photo, so I'm going to have to refer you to my blog post for all the close ups and details.

Our theme for September is “FAIRY TALES” and the entries for this week’s design challenge were inspired by the theme of “SLEEPING BEAUTY”.
Jo Pound of Jewelry by Jolane
I added a red poisoned apple to a black and white bracelet I used for recycling. The black represents the evil Queen and the white, Sleeping Beauty. I added the spikes to the red apple for the poison. Had a great time with this one!
Tammy Adams of Paisley Lizard
Reconstituted turquoise spikes (spindles, thorns) are wrapped in a tangle of silver wire with seven clear faceted crystals (for the seven virtues). A single black crystal dangle on each spike represents vice.
Diane Perry of Catcophany Wearable Art
Delicate filigree and Swarovski glass pearls cascade from copper. It is perfect for a princess.
Laura Bracken of Bracken Designs Studio Art Jewelry
For my Sleeping Beauty piece, I designed an image with Princess Aurora (Briar Rose) sleeping with stylized thorns encircling her. I transferred the design to copper and gave the piece an acid etch bath to create dimension. I then filed an aurora (aurora borealis) image above the sleeping princess, added a patina and sealed the metal.
My interpretation of Sleeping Beauty is best described by the extraordinary artist Alphonse Mucha. Two worlds collide decoupage and beading. The classic story is both eclectic and timeless.
Vivi Varvarande of Vivilima Silver Jewelry And BijouterieThis is a silver necklace with a fairy and two stones: a big faceted amethyst ans a bright pink chalcedony, all wrapped in silver. Fairies have always been on story tales.
